(1)“X times + as +形容词或副词原级+ as”，译为“A是B的X倍”。如：The substance reacts three times as fast as that one.（这种物质反应的速度是那种物质的3倍。）（比那种物质快2倍）
(2)“X times + 形容词或副词比较级+ than”，译为“A是B的X＋1倍”或“A比B大（多、长等）X倍”。如：The cotton output was four times greater than that of 1996.（棉花产量比1996年增产4倍。）（是1996年的5倍）
(3)“X times + the width (length, breadth, level, value.etc.) of”，译为“A是B的X倍” 或“A比B大（多、长等）X-1倍”。如：The lake is twice the width of that lake.（这个湖的宽度是那个湖的2倍。）（比那个湖宽一倍）。
(4)“half as many (much, long, etc.) as”，译为“A是B的一半”。如：I have half as many books as she has.（我的书只有她的一半多。）
注意：①2倍通常用twice, duple, twofold表示（不可以用two times），译为“翻一倍”或“是……的两倍”。如：You are twice her age.（你的年龄比她大一倍。）②大于或等于3倍通常用“X times”表示。They have produced four times as many washers as they did last year.（他们今年生产的洗衣机相当于去年的四倍。）
